Intro-

OnePlus is always known for keeping things simple, and this is the case with its latest offering, OnePlus Nord Buds. They are a pair of budget true wireless earbuds that offer a straightforward, no-frills experience.

The buds are designed around a unique pill-shaped design, with concave touch-sensitive areas on the stems, and a chrome-like finish on the heads. The product is also rated IP55, for dust and water resistance.

Design-OnePlus Nord Buds

With the Nord Buds, OnePlus has gone all in on value with a pair of no-frills wireless buds. They don’t have active noise-cancellation, fancy codecs or even in-ear detection, but they do include an IP55 rating, fast charging, and four microphones with AI noise reduction for calls.

On the design front, you can’t help but like them – the pill-shaped charging case looks distinctive, and it has a matte ‘Black Slate’ finish that feels pleasing to the eye. On the back, you’ll find a well-concealed pairing button and USB-C port for charging.

The buds themselves are a little shorter, stubby and shaped more like popsicle sticks than OnePlus’ existing TWS earphones, and the outer stems are matte too. They sport a slightly concave touch-sensitive area for playback gestures, while each also features a small circular chrome accent that doubles as a touch surface for controls.

You get the standard three silicone tip sizes, all of which fit well in my ears. The stubby design means they don’t feel quite as secure as AirPod clones, but I found them more comfortable than many others I’ve tried.

A pair of magnetic earclips on each bud also help keep them in place. Consider the top monitors and displays.

Key to note!

If you’re a gamer, the OnePlus Nord Buds can offer low-latency gaming, thanks to the company’s Pro Gaming mode. They also support Dolby Atmos and Sound Master Equaliser.

The OnePlus Nord Buds don’t have a whole lot of bells and whistles, but they perform surprisingly well for the price. They deliver a solid soundstage, with a surprisingly heavy bass and clear incoming audio through the mics.

Sound-OnePlus Nord Buds

Sound quality is a big part of the overall experience with any pair of wireless headphones.

Listening to a song like Words and Guitar by Sleater Kinney and Courtney Barnett shows how well they do, with the bass guitar coming through fairly prominently while everything else sounds smooth and crisp.

The Nord Buds also have decent audio quality for watching videos and talking on the phone, with voice calls sounding full-bodied and natural. However, they struggle a bit with ambient noise reduction algorithms when recording in very noisy environments.

There’s an initial delay when the video is first started, but it quickly syncs and stays that way, a good performance for watching videos on a phone or tablet. You can even use them for competitive multiplayer gaming, though you’re likely to find the latency isn’t as low as OnePlus promises.

Another OnePlus-exclusive feature is Dolby Atmos support, which adds a bit more depth to music and movies. Sadly, only OnePlus’ latest phones can take advantage of it at the moment (the OnePlus 7 and RT series) but a quick update should ensure compatibility with more devices in the future. Consider 9 things before buying a smartwatch with a camera.

Always remember!

Aside from that, OnePlus has also included its proprietary Flash Charge technology that boosts battery life on a single 10-minute charge, which gives you an additional 5 hours of listening time when charging the case and buds together. That’s not quite as powerful as the OnePlus Buds Pro’s Warp Charge, but it is enough to make the Nord Buds a very good choice for people who want a pair of wireless earbuds that aren’t a drain on your phone’s battery.

OnePlus has taken an interesting approach with the design of the Nord Buds, and we love how it’s different from the company’s previous TWS headphones. They have a distinct pill-shaped charging case in a pleasing matt ‘Black Slate’ finish, with a USB-C port and a well-concealed setup button on the back of the buds.

Battery life-

The OnePlus Nord Buds offer up to seOnePlus Nord Budsven hours of playback time on a single charge. That’s about the same as our budget pick, the Jabra Elite 3, but it’s also more than enough to keep you listening all day.

The battery life of the OnePlus Nord Buds is a real positive, and it’s one of the best things about them. The earbuds themselves feature a 41mAh battery (each) and the charging case has a 480mAh battery in total.

You can get about five hours of use out of the buds on a 10-minute charge using Flash Charge, and you can charge up the case from empty in 30 minutes to fully restore its capacity. You’ll also find a USB Type-C port on the charging case, which supports quick charging.

Unlike most wireless earbuds, the OnePlus Nord Buds don’t have a built-in microphone, which means you need to place them in their cradle and tap them against your device. That may be fine if you’re listening to a podcast or audiobook on your phone, but it’s a big drawback if you’re trying to talk to someone via voice call.

Aside from that, the OnePlus Nord Buds are rated IP55 for water and dust resistance for outdoorsy types. But they’re not for heavy activity. Samsung Smartphone Issues You need to know & Fix Right Now!

Do bear this in mind!

They’re not quite as comfortable to wear as the Jabra Elite 3 and you won’t find as many colours to choose from, but they offer a solid audio experience. You’ll also get a decent level of call quality and some useful features like a sound master equalizer, which helps to improve the audio experience.

While they don’t quite compare to the audio performance of more expensive models, the OnePlus Nord Buds are an excellent value and offer all the perks you need in a simple, affordable package. The only drawback is that some of the perks you’ll find with the higher-end models – OnePlus Fast Pair, Dolby Atmos support, and Bluetooth 5.2 – are for a limited number of OnePlus phones. However, that’s not really a deal-breaker for most users and you should be happy with the performance of these earbuds.

Call quality-OnePlus Nord Buds

The OnePlus Nord Buds aren’t a regular feature of the company’s high-end smartphones but they offer great call quality for a very reasonable price. They’re a little different from OnePlus’ previous TWS earphones and have a unique design with tappable touch areas on the outer face of each bud.

They also have a very impressive battery life that’s at 23 hours with the buds themselves and a whopping 7 hours of runtime ). The charging case is also very convenient for storing the buds and comes in three different colours – ‘Black Slate’, ‘Marble White’ and ‘Turquoise Blue’.

OnePlus says the touch area on each bud is the largest in the industry and that it can handle a variety of gestures including tapping to play/pause music, skip tracks, and answer/reject calls. In our testing, these were very easy to control without a lot of effort. Read about: Top 7 Best Gaming Monitors in India 2022

Conclusion

·        Calls on the OnePlus Buds were clear and loud,
even at the lowest volumes, while video calls worked well enough to let you see
who’s on the other end. They also did a good job reducing the sound of nearby
noise when necessary.

·        Voices on calls were full-bodied and natural in
quiet environments, but they’d still be a bit garbled in more noisy situations.
OnePlus’ clever AI-powered noise reduction algorithm was a nice touch, but the
OnePlus Buds didn’t stand out from the crowd when it came to calling quality.

·        Using the OnePlus Buds in tandem with a OnePlus
phone was a breeze, and pairing them with a non-OnePlus device was painless
thanks to the company’s in-house Fast Pair feature. Likewise, Android phones
